If God takes you to it; He will take you through it" -
Hey guys! We are seeking to build up the Elite Drill Squad of the EJC, and as such we are inviting eligible persons to an elimination parade to be held on Sunday Nov 22 @ 10 am @ Kencot.
The persons who represented the various zones at Pathfinder Festival are implored to attend.
This venture does not cater for persons who can't march as it's not a teaching session, but a session to test your drill and march level and your personal drill. Persons making this team will be given an application form to be filled out and returned within a week. YOU MUST BE AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF A PATHFINDER CLUB. Officers of the clubs are also invited, as long as you can march.
All new members as well as previous members should be participating in Youth Congressorree Parade.

If God takes you to it; He will take you through it" -
Christian greetings!
Once more we are privileged to lead our churches in our annual Ingathering campaign. This programme as we all know, seeks to garner funds to assist the church in ministering to the needs of the less fortunate in our society. It also gives our members the opportunity to witness, which is imperative, not only in saving others for God's kingdom but also in strengthening their own faith.
Regarding this programme Ellen White states:
The Lord has placed His goods in the hands of unbelievers as well as believers; all may return to Him His own for the doing of the work that must be done for a fallen world. As long as we are in this, as long as the Spirit of God strives with the children of men, so long we are to receive favors as well as to impart them. We are to give to the world the light of truth as revealed in the Scriptures; and we are to receive from the world that which God moves upon them to give in behalf of His cause. Christian Service p. 168
On Sabbath, October 3, the Campaign will be launch in every church in East Jamaica, and I am asking that as leaders you give this programme your full attention.
Let us join in prayer and work for an exciting, successful and short Ingathering campaign.
Thanks for your continued prayerful support and may God's blessings rest upon you.
Yours in the Master's service

Thanks to all those who made it on Sunday. We had a productive, interactive and fun-filled time.
I know many of you were unable to attend because you were supporting others at funerals, weddings and other events. I am happy to report that plans for Women's Convention are going well and our Baskets of love project for seniors is nearer to the 100 mark.
See pictures attached. Kindly remember reports for 3rd quarter. WM leaders who have not yet informed me about items they would like to do at the convention need to do so quickly.
May God bless you all.

Come next year January, your church (or former church, in some instances, eh? never mind, we still feel the love emanating in the air) - the Shortwood Seventh-day Adventist Church - will be celebrating its 65th year of existence! We are anticipating, praying and planning for a grand, blessed year of activities - all things being equal and God willing. It is our hope that all members (and non-members) who were associated with us in any way, for any duration, in any capacity, etc, will be in attendance at any, some or all of the various activities/programmes/events we will be hosting. So, if you are one of, and/or know of such persons, please pass the good news along AND/OR send me their information, with their permission, where necessary, of course.
As time progresses, much more information and official invitations, etc, will be provided online, in person, snail mail, telephone calls, etc. So keep checking the church's website or individuals with whom you have remained in contact. (Incidentally, the Anniversary Planning Committee would appreciate such information, where possible. Those whom I have will get information via moi (ie, me), bearing in mind, confidentiality and other sensitive issues - so you need not worry, without your permission, your data and any other given/sent to me remains private).
Bye for now. Remember to keep in touch with us.Karlene Beckford

Thanks in advance.Re: National Leadership Culture Survey 2009
Extended DISC - the world's fastest growing assessment company - is pleased to partner with the Private Sector Organization of Jamaica (PSOJ) and the INFOSERV Group in bringing the series of National Leadership Culture studies to Jamaica. The study comes at a time when the Jamaican economy has suffered from an extended period of slow growth. At the same time, Canada has made significant strides economically. This study will compare the leadership culture of Jamaica, Canada and select European and Asian countries.
Recognizing the important role Leadership plays in the development of the nation Extended DISC International is offering to Jamaica the unique opportunity to participate in the series of National Leadership Culture Studies. Extended DISC International has offered to undertake the cost associated with this National Survey.
The objectives of this study are:
Ø To identify typical Jamaican leadership styles.
Ø To determine whether there is a difference in the Jamaican leadership culture across industries and among organizations, units and at the individual level.
Ø To compare the research findings with similar leadership culture research results from Europe and North America.
Ø To determine whether there are leadership culture issues that are tied to differences in economic growth rates.
Ø To provide a platform for self-analysis at all levels of the Jamaican leadership cadres that will help direct the drive for global competitiveness.
The target population for the survey will be comprised of: church leaders, government officials and agencies, not-for-profit organizations, Jamaican-based executive managers and human resource professionals from target sectors: Agriculture, Agri-business, Tourism & Entertainment, Banking, Insurance, other financial services, Manufacturing, Mining, Construction and Utilities, Retail, Distribution and Other Services.
The results will be the subject of extensive discourse with a view to coming to a better understanding of leadership culture issues in the Jamaican context. The discussions will be guided to identify potential adjustments that could be made to enhance productivity at the individual, team, organization and national levels.
The study is processed by a web-enabled database in Finland that will collate the responses for analysis and send individual Leadership Culture Style reports directly to each respondent. This report and the executive summary of the leadership research findings provide information that can be used immediately to improve personal leadership effectiveness.
The study will be conducted online. It will take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete the questionnaire. Collaborating partners will organize respondents and/or facilitate the analysis, distribution and discussion of the research findings.
Data collection is currently underway. We are extending an invitation to you and the leadership of your organization to participate in this pivotal study

We have once again entered the hurricane season and we know quite well the dangers it brings. As an organization we need to be prepared for any eventuality that may occur.
We have planned a Risk Management seminar for July 12, 2009 starting at 9:30 a.m., where we hope to give you pertinent information on steps to take to mitigate losses in your churches.
We hope to have present, personnel from ‘Adventist Risk Management’, the insurance arm of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.
We are inviting all risk managers and treasurers to be present so that you can have your questions answered and hopefully help eradicate or at least minimize risks from our church environment. If the treasurer cannot be present please send the assistant treasurer.
We hope to complete the session by 1:30 p.m. so we invite you to come early so that we may finish on time.
We look forward to seeing you on the 12th July and we will continue to remember you in our prayers.
Yours very truly,

The monthly drill practice and drill instructors meeting which would have been for June 21, 2009 has been changed to the week after which is Sunday June 28, 2009 @ Half Way Tree SDA Church at 12pm.
The practice has been re-scheduled due to the fact that June 21st is Father's Day. We are aware that family members and various churches are making plans for the fathers and would hate to hinder these plans.
On behalf of the Master Guide Association, I wish all the fathers a happy Fathers Day when it comes and may God bless you all as you continue to represent Him who is our Master Father, in the lives of our children.
Regards,
Kimecia Griffiths-Buchanan -
